Pete introduces class-6 Model 330
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 27, 2000) — Peterbilt Motors Co. introduced a class-6 version of its Model 330 conventional tractor and announced a variety of upgrades for the model line.
The class-6 Model 330 features an all-aluminum cab and a 50-degree wheel cut. It comes standard with Dana Spicer axles, an I80 front axle rated at 8000 pounds and the 19060S rear axle rated at 18,000 pounds. A Caterpiller 3126B engine is standard, with ratings ranging from 175 to 300 horsepower. The truck also has hydraulic brakes.
The model is aimed at distribution and leasing markets, said Nick Panza, Peterbilit general manager. Production will begin in August at the Ste-Therese, Que., truck plant owned by PeterbiltÕs corporate parent, Paccar Inc.
Last year, the 330 was ranked the number-one medium-duty conventional for customer satisfaction by J.D. Power & Associates.
