Petro-Canada to test Internet access at truck stops

ROTHESAY, N.B. (March 8, 2000) — Petro-Canada has signed an agreement with a maker of public-access Internet equipment to install its kiosks at major Petro-Canada truck stops and fuelling locations.

Initially, the devices will be placed at truckstops on a 12-month trial basis, Petro-Canada said.

National Electronic Technologies Corp.’s Global VideoNET terminals are a pay-per-use
Internet access device for Web browsing, sending and receiving e-mail and video mail, scanning news and weather reports, and playing touch-screen-based games. The devices also allows access to America Online.

NET plans to install public access Internet terminals across North America in a variety of locations including truck stops, airports, hotels, shopping malls, and convention centres.
