Phillips goes transparent
“We’re making visible parts of the electrical system where problems have traditionally remained hidden,” Eric DeWilde, director of R&D for Phillips Industries, says in describing his company’s Clear-Vu line of wire-protection products.
Clear-Vu shrink tubing is an abrasion-resistant wire covering that’s transparent, so you can spot corrosion and other wire problems before they require major repairs. The tubing comes in six-inch lengths for wires of 22 to 1 gauge, and is available in clear and three colors.
Other products in the Clear-Vu line are a junction box with a durable, transparent housing, and a rope-stranded battery cable that has a durable, flexible, transparent coating. “With just a glance at the start of a trip, a trucker can check for corrosion, or spot breaks that could lead to problems on the road, where help is inaccessible or more costly,” says DeWilde.
