PMTC names top exec, fleet safety winners, and hall of famers
WATERLOO, Ont. (June 21, 2002) — The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada gave its Executive of the Year award to Stan Dawson, general manager of transportation for HBC Logistics during its 25th anniversary and annual conference today.
Dawson was acknowledged for his role in the significant improvement his company achieved in on-time delivery, reduction in driver absenteeism, and a reduction in road accidents.
The Council, along with Zurich North America Canada, also announced awards for fleet safety. DTF Trucking of Beamsville, Ont. won the Medium Fleet category, while Mississauga, Ont.-based Praxair Canada took the prize for the Large Fleet category.
Eleven drivers were also inducted into the newly formed Hall of Fame for Professional Drivers. The hall of fame, which will soon reside on the PMTC website, recognizes superior over-the-road performance by drivers whose companies are PMTC members. The PMTC started the hall of fame off by inducting all 11 drivers who have received the Driver of the Year award since its inception in 1990. They are: Hill Koopman of Northern Telecom (1990); Larry Joyce of Unique Personnel (1991); Gary Maher of Ontario-Quebec Personnel (1992); Russell Keating of Molson Breweries (1993); Ed Conners of Molson Breweries (1994); Allan Ball of Global Driver Services (1995); James Kaye of Air Liquide Canada (1996); Roland Martel of Unique Personnel (1997); Archie Brown of Alliance Personnel Group (1998); Cliff Lammeren of Praxair Canada (1999); Mark Godfrey of the TDL Group (2000); and Ted Smith of Global Driver Services (2001).
The PMTC also announced its incoming board of directors for the coming term. The officers and are as follows:
