Point and Shoot: Teletemp’s non-contact thermometer

by Tire groups lobby for reserve pressure capacity requirement for tires

Teletemp’s new infrared thermometer has a built-in laser pointer and a pistol-grip that let you aim with accuracy in non-contact temperature measurements. With a field of view of 6:1 (a six-inch distance measures a one-inch target), the unit is ideal for measuring surface temperatures that are difficult or dangerous to access — checking tires, brakes, and cooling systems. A large backlit LCD display makes measurements in low light easy and practical. Teletemp says the unit is accurate to +/- 2 per cent F over a range of 0 to 600 F (-20 to 320 C), or +/- 2 C (whichever is greater). The unit easily switches between Fahrenheit and Celsius measurements.
