Proposed Sudbury trucking complex jumps hurdles

SUDBURY, Ont. — A new trucking trade school in northern Ontario is closer to reality, says the man pushing to build it in Sudbury.

John Beaudry, owner of Transport Training Centres of Canada, told the Sudbury Star that he feels a recent public community meeting to discuss the creation of the centre went very well.

Beaudry wants to build the trucking complex on The Kingsway where the Sudbury Shrine Centre now stands. He said he’s confident that he was able to quell concerns and dispel some misconceptions surrounding noise and possible diesel exhaust pollution at the meeting, which was ordered by city council in late November after a planning committee decision in favour of the proposal and rezoning.

Contrary to some reports, the centre will not include a repair facility on site.
With 20 locations across the province, Transport Training Centres of Canada is one of Ontario’s largest transport truck driver training companies.
