Province mulls vehicle plate redesign

EDMONTON — Alberta is considering a design overhaul of its licence plates, Treasury Board president Lloyd Snelgrove said this week.

The province’s booming population has led to a near shortage of vehicle plate numbers, and Snelgrove suggests it’s time for some new ones, adding that he’ll hold public consultations through this summer and fall, Canadian Press reports.

He also said the government would consider special plates, like war veterans now have.
