Push-to-listen radio on the iPhone
NEW YORK– Move over satellite radio, the iPhone is signaling it’s in the radio broadcasting game too.
A new, downloadable iPhone application, Talk Radio, has added over 100 audio streams, including live streams from National Public Radio, Thom Hartman, Bill O’Reilly and, for you OTR truckers, Midnight Trucking Radio Network.
Talk Radio is available now in the Apple iTunes store for only $2.99 (USD).
Product manager David Kyle says: "We have had so much interest from users, hosts, and radio networks, that we are having a hard time keeping up with the requests."
Talk Radio with online streaming and a directory of local non streaming stations is the perfect companion for truck drivers and business travelers, the company says.
"We view applications like Talk Radio as the future of radio industry and are excited to be part of a growing movement in the industry. With Talk Radio a user can listen to their favorite show anywhere in the country. If a show wants to be added, all (customers) have to do is contact us and we can work out the details." said Kyle.
Not to be outdone, satellite radio providers Sirius and XM recently added the uStarPlayr for iPhone which will work with existing accounts for both Sirius and XM.
