Report: DaimlerChrysler postpones Nissan talks
FRANKFURT — DaimlerChrysler AG has postponed until next spring a decision on whether to invest in Japan’s Nissan Diesel Motor Co., according to a Kyodo News Service report.
DaimlerChrysler, the world’s third largest automaker, announced in May that it had planned to conclude negotiations with Nissan Diesel Motor, a truck and bus maker of the Nissan Motor Co. group, by the end of this year. The talks have been delayed due to the merger of Daimler-Benz AG and Chrysler Corp. as well as Nissan Diesel Motor’s worsening earnings, according to DaimlerChrysler sources.
