Roadcheck 2002 to emphasize hazmat, security

BETHESDA, Md. (May 27, 2002) — Roadcheck 2002, the annual roadside truck inspection blitz scheduled for June 4-6, will focus on hazardous materials and security as a result of the Sept. 11 terrorists attacks, according to organizers of the event.

During the three-day exercise, inspectors in Canada, the United States, and Mexico will check trucks and buses and their drivers at sites along major highways, while roving patrols will cover other roads. Trucks and drivers are subject to CVSA Level 1 inspection procedures.

The event is co-ordinated by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators.
