Rogers to offer nation-wide, cell-based live traffic info
TORONTO — Rogers Wireless has teamed up with a leading traffic information company to bring drivers live, real-time traffic updates on their cell phones across Canada.
LiveTraffic will provide Rogers wireless customers with Mobile Location Services, which instantly measures speed and traffic volumes on virtually all roadways.
The patented IntelliOne technology converts ordinary mobile phone network data into highly accurate traffic congestion information. It updates every thirty seconds and will also be made available to transportation, media, fleet and personal navigation channels.
The technology can be personalized to each user’s commutes, routes and location then delivered through the Web and mobile phone.
Also, Mobile Enterprise is available for all business mobile phones or devices, historical and current positions of each handset may be viewed on Web maps, drivers re-routed around traffic and automated text message alerts received for movement outside of designated areas.
