Rostra’s RearSentry Obstacle Sensor
Rostra Precision Controls has introduced its RearSentry Obstacle Sensing System for heavy trucks and trailers.
Acting like an extra set of eyes for a driver, the RearSentry uses microwaves to detect objects that are not in clear view.
It mounts out of sight behind or on the vehicle’s rear bumper, and alerts drivers to obstacles up to 12 feet from the rear of the vehicle. It works in the dark, at night, and in fog, rain, or snow, the company says. Audible alerts sound when the system detects an obstacle in the vehicle’s path. The beeps increase in intensity as the object draws closer. An in-cab display with green, yellow, and red lights also provides a warning.
RearSentry comes with a five-year, 50,000-mile warranty.
