Ryder to offer DEF at all full serve locations

MIAMI — Ryder System is certainly not tone DEF.

The truck leasing giant will soon offer at every full service North American location, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) required for many 2010 engines.

This offering will support contractual full service lease and maintenance customers operating vehicles that use selective catalytic reduction (SCR).

Customers will be able to purchase DEF in 2.5-gallon portable containers. Ryder will also begin adding bulk storage and DEF pumps at its largest shop facilities throughout North America in 2011.

As well, a limited supply of DEF will be available at non-fueling locations for emergency roadside service needs.

Supply will increase as demand grows, says the company.

DEF is the non-toxic, urea-based solution to virtually eliminate NOx emissions from diesel engines.

All major truck OEMs with the exception of Navistar is marketing SCR engines in model 2010 trucks.

"As more EPA 2010-compliant vehicles are introduced into our customers’ fleets, we are prepared to ensure that customers will have DEF availability across Ryder’s network," said Robert Sanchez, president, Global Fleet Management Solutions for Ryder. "Over the long-term, we will continue to evolve our DEF storage and dispensing infrastructure to meet the needs of the marketplace."
