Saia to integrate Action Express, WestEx
ATLANTA (Jan. 16, 2001) – Yellow Corp. will integrate three of its regional less-than-truckload carriers, Saia, Action Express, and WestEx, into a single company that will operate under the Saia name.
The company will focus on overnight and second-day LTL service in the southern U.S. and West Coast, covering 21 states. The move is designed to consolidate management and information systems and provide a stronger brand identity for customers, said Saia president and CEO Rick O’Dell.
Saia had revenue exceeding $368 million US in 2000. Adding Action and WestEx combined 2000 revenue of more than $117 million will place Saia in the top fifteen LTL carriers by revenue in the country, O’Dell said.
