SmarTire to roll out truck sensor to U.S, market

RICHMOND, B.C. — Tire pressure monitoring systems provider SmarTire has filed a patent application in the U.S. for an external valve sensor designed for use with its TPM system for commercial vehicles.

B.C.-based SmarTire’s external valve sensors offer simpler installation and easier maintenance over existing internal sensor products, the company says.
The product is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2007.

“This technological innovation further strengthens our product position and directly addresses the needs of the commercial market,” said Vice-president of sales David Warkentin. “SmarTire’s external valve sensors will reduce the installation costs of tire-pressure monitoring systems and enable faster implementation for large fleets during retrofit in the aftermarket.”
