SMC3 publishes freight guide

SMC3 has published Version 100-AD of the National Motor Freight Classification book and will begin shipping it on Nov. 26.

The National Motor Freight Classification is a definitive categorization and class grouping of various freight commodities based on their density, stowability, ease of handling, and liability. Carriers and shippers alike use it to compare the thousands of different products moving in today’s marketplace for setting rates and accessorial charges.

A subscription to the National Motor Freight Classification includes the current book version plus supplements that follow throughout the year, either in hard copy or digital form. Subscriptions renew annually in November and the new book becomes effective in December.

A digital alternative is SMC3’s FastClass software, which searches the text of the National Motor Freight Classification. FastClass operates in the Windows environment, and includes a complete cross-reference to all applicable rules, notes, packaging, and carrier listings. Search results can be cut-and-pasted into a bill of lading or other documents with just a few mouse clicks. The product is updated with each new release, and is available on CD or as an online application at www.smc3.com. Or call 770/486-5800.
