Spectra inks exclusive distribution deal with US supplier
TORONTO — Canadian brake stroke indication manufacturer, Spectra Inc., has signed of a major U.S. distribution agreement with Advanced Brake Products for the company’s Brake Inspector line of products.
This strategic alliance has the potential to be a multi-year, multi-million dollar arrangement, in which Advanced will have the exclusive right to distribute the Brake Inspector line of products throughout the U.S. and will be responsible for all related marketing and distribution costs.
In the first year of the agreement, Advanced has committed to purchase Brake Inspector systems with a minimum sales value of approximately $1,300,000. In future years, to retain the exclusive right to distribute the product, Advanced must purchase minimum sales values determined by a multiple of the numbers of units sold by Spectra Products in Canada.
Advanced Brake Products, LLC, based in West Bloomfield, Mich. is a specializes in safety and performance enhancing products for the trucking industry in the United States.
“With the increased awareness of truck safety, and in particular air brakes, and with our access to the largest fleets in the country, we expect unparalleled acceptance of this new and innovative product,” said Michael Bishop, national sales director of Advanced Brake Products.
Glen Campbell, chairman of Spectra Products, added that Advanced’s “comprehensive industry knowledge and extensive fleet contacts should generate significant sales not only during 2008 but in the years thereafter.”
Spectra is the designer, manufacturer and distributor of Brake Safe, the visual brake stroke indicating system and Brake Inspector, the company’s electronic in-cab air brake diagnostic system and the Termin-8R line of anti-corrosion and extreme pressure lubricants.
