Steel yourself in Indy
INDIANAPOLIS Ind. — If any of your trucks are heading through the Lake County district, you might want to tell them to take extra caution when they’re finding a place to park.
Local police say there’s been a string (three) of truck thefts and in each case, the driver was still in the cab.
According to police, one or more individuals jumped into the cab and forced the driver to go to nearby Illinois where the cargo was offloaded and the drivers and vehicles released, unharmed.
So far, the materials that the thieves coveted were scrap metal, stainless steel and aluminum.
The incidents are still under investigation, but in the meantime, the police suggest that truckers in the Indy area remain acutely aware of their surroundings; keep their trucks locked at all times, remain wary of suspicious looking people, steer clear of isolated parking spots and finally, to have 9-1-1 on the speed dial.
