Sterling offers to put drivers behind the wheel at Mid-America Trucking Show

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio (March 8, 2000) Ð Sterling Trucks will invite truckers to take to the road at the 2000 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.

The Sterling Ride & Drive will spotlight Sterling’s SilverStar premium owner-operator tractor and the company’s Acterra family of medium-duty vehicles. It will be held from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, and Friday, March 24, in the parking lot of the Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium (University of Louisville stadium). Sterling will provide free shuttle bus service between the site and show entrance at the South Hall of the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center.

Drivers with a valid commercial drivers license will be allowed to drive the Sterlings on a course laid out on adjacent roads and highways; those without a valid CDL can ride along with a Sterling-supplied professional driver.

SilverStar recently received a number of enhancements, including new exterior styling, a new woodgrain dash and new interior appointments. The SilverStars at the Ride & Drive will feature a big horsepower engine and a 77-inch unified high-roof sleeper. One will be equipped with an Eaton AutoShift transmission mated to a Sterling SmartShift driver interface.

The Sterling Ride & Drive will be the first time Acterras will be available for large numbers of customers to drive.
