Sterling opens flagship dealer in Canada
LONDON, Ont. (June 19, 2000) — Sterling Truck Corp. cut the ribbon on its first corporately owned dealership in Canada last week.
Sterling of London Ltd. is a new-from-the-ground-up dealership situated on seven acres at the intersection of Hwy. 401 and Wellington Road in metropolitan London. The dealership represents an investment of more than $5.5 million by Sterling and its parent company, Freightliner LLC.
Terry J. Bruni is the general manager of the dealership, which covers 38,000 square feet and features eight drive-through service bays, a rapid-lube pit, a full frame alignment rack, and specialized equipment such as a flywheel turner for re-machining engine flywheels. A drivers lounge features: a big-screen television with a satellite dish; snacks; microwave; coffee; separate shower facilities for men and women; laundry facilities; workstations with connections for laptop computers; and a separate phone room for drivers to use when contacting dispatchers and customers.
The dealership will employ about 50 people at full operation.
Led by Bruni, the former plant manager of Sterling’s manufacturing plant in St. Thomas, Ont., Sterling of LondonÕs management team includes Mike Black, general sales manager; John Frank, service manager; and Wayne Turner, parts manager.
Sterling of London joins 50 other Sterling Trucks locations in Sterling’s Canadian network.
