Stumbling economy could use infrastructure investment

OTTAWA — The country’s premiers met with Prime Minister Stephen Harper this week to discuss the lagging economy and infrastructure might be the key to recovery.

Media reports of the First Ministers meeting paint a positive picture of the working relationship amongst the leaders as they brainstormed ideas for reviving Canada’s slumping economy.

While the talks are preliminary and a follow up meeting isn’t expected until the new year, there was a consensus that a priority should be placed on infrastructure spending as the investment is expected to provide a needed boost for the economy.
