Sunoco signs Canadian licensing deal

TORONTO, (May 4, 2004) — Sunoco Inc. is taking aim at the Canadian market after a recent technology and brand licensing agreement with Tribospec Inc.

Tribospec — a large independent blender and compounder of lubricants in Canada — will have the rights for the manufacturing, marketing, distribution, and service of Sunoco lubricants through various warehouses in Quebec, Ontario, Western Canada, and the Maritimes.

Tribospec president Julian Cininni — one of a handful of “former Sunoco people” now at Tribospec — said his company brings a secure source of supply for Sunoco products in Canada. “We basically bring to the table a high level of performance in the service area,” Cininni told Today’s Trucking at the Canadian Fleet Maintenance Seminar. “Experience in dealing with service after the sale is not what it should be (in the industry).”

Sunoco’s flagship heavy-duty diesel products include Sunoco Ultra Super C Diesel and Ultra Super C Gold Synthetic. Other transportation products include: Sunoco TO-4 Transfluid; Ultra GL-5 Gear Oil; Duragear Synthetic Gear oil; and Duratrans Synthetic Transmission Fluid.
