TCT continues to expand, buys Tri-Line Expressways
CALGARY (April 10, 2000) — TCT Logistics said Friday that it would buy controlling interest in Tri-Line Expressways Ltd. for $44 million. It was the second major acquisition in as many days for TCT, which announced on April 6 plans to buy the van and temperature-controlled business of Kleysen Transport of Winnipeg.
The purchase of Calgary-based Tri-Line Expressways from Tri-White Corp., a holding company created when Russel Metals of Winnipeg spun off its remaining trucking properties, includes tractors, trailers, and its owned or leased properties across Canada and a terminal in Houston.
TCT said the acquisition would add over $135 million to its annual sales. TCT’s fleet would increase toover 1200 power units and 3650 trailers operating from 36 facilities.
Through its Tri-Line and High-Tech Express divisions, Tri-Line Expressways provides of truckload and less-than-truckload services within Canada, between Canada and the United States, and between Canada and Mexico, as well as providing warehousing and logistics operations.
Tri-White Corp. is based in Toronto.
