That can’t be good for fuel economy…
PAW PAW, Mich. — A man in a wheelchair was pushed down the highway by a tractor-trailer for six kilometers when his chair got lodged in the truck’s front grille.
According to the Associated Press, the 21-year old man survived the 80 km/h wild ride without a scratch. He had been secured to his wheelchair by a seatbelt.
“The man spilled his soda pop, but he wasn’t upset,” Sgt. Kathy Morton of the Michigan State Police told AP.
There was no word if the wheelchair took a dent or two, however.
The driver of the truck was completely unaware he was taking the man for a ride. In fact, when police stopped the truck — wheelchair still attached — the driver didn’t believe them until he stepped from the cab and saw it with his own eyes.
An investigation later revealed the man in the wheelchair had pulled in front of the truck at a gas station and it somehow became lodged to the front grille.
