The Associates launches finance site for small fleets, owner-operators
DALLAS, Tex. (July 7, 2000) — The Associates, one of the largest lenders to the trucking industry, launched a Web site designed to help small fleets and owner-operators apply for a new loan or refinance current equipment.
The company began testing the site in March at the Mid-America Trucking Show and has received a number of credit applications through the beta site. Pete Piccolo, vice president for e-business at The Associates said response during the testing period — when the site was not marketed — was mainly from owner-operators.
He also said the site surprised the company, because it received applications at non-traditional hours and from regions where the Associates is not well represented.
