Too bad you can’t deliver your T-dot freight by mountain bike

TORONTO — If you thought the closure of the Gardiner Expressway in Canada’s most congested city wrought havoc with traffic this past weekend, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

What with construction projects, festivals and the coming G-8 and G-20 summits, Toronto traffic promises to be even more nightmarish than usual this summer.

If your trucks have any Hogtown runs whatsoever you might want to print and post the following list so you can plan accordingly.
June 6: The Don Valley Parkway will be fully closed from 2:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., between the 401 and the Gardiner Expressway, for the Ride for Heart charity race. The Gardiner will also be closed from the DVP to the Humber River.

• June 21-28: The city expects tons of delays and closures as world leaders descend on Toronto for the G8 and G20 meetings. More details are available at the G8-G20 website.

• July 14-18: Lake Shore Blvd. will be closed from Strachan Ave. to British Columbia Rd. from 9:00 p.m. on July 14 to midnight on July 18 for the Honda Indy. (Of the bunch, this is the only delay we here at www.todaystrucking.com approve of – ed.)

• Aug. 1-2: Lake Shore Blvd. will be closed from Strachan Ave. to Colborne Lodge Dr., from 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 1 to 6 a.m. on Aug. 2 for Caribana.

• Aug. 7-9: The Gardiner will be closed from the DVP to the Humber River re-opening Monday at 5:00 a.m.

• Sept. 18-20: The Gardiner will be shut down from the DVP to the Humber, opening Monday at 5:00 a.m.

• Oct. 30-31: Gardiner will be fully closed overnight from the DVP to the Humber River.

And this is only a partial list. To get completely depressed before heading into the Big Smoke, click here:
