Top carriers’ revenue drops
OTTAWA — The million-dollar trucking club — the 3,551 for-hire trucking companies with annual revenue of $1 million or more — report that in-coming cash was down slightly in the third quarter of 2007.
These companies generated operating revenue of $7.1 billion, down 1.9 percent from the same period in 2006, as a result of lower revenue earned from transborder shipments, reports Stats Canada.
Operating expenses ($6.7 billion) recorded a smaller decline. As a result, the operating ratio (operating expenses divided by operating revenues) deteriorated somewhat, moving from 0.93 to 0.94.
