Trailmobile Canada to cut production by 25%

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (July 12, 2001) — Amid slumping demand for new trailers, Trailmobile Canada Ltd. said it will reduce trailer production by about 25% starting next week.

In a press release, Trailmobile said the production cut is in line with the 65% decline in backlog levels from what was reported at the end of the first quarter ended Dec. 29.

Trailmobile said it expects the weak demand for trailers to continue at least through the 2001 fiscal year.

Trailmobile Canada, formerly Mond Industries, makes dry-freight trailers for commercial trucking customers.
