Trans Canada reopens after avalanche danger

LAKE LOUISE, Alta. — Drivers traveling on Hwy 2. between Lake Louise and Golden, B.C. are being warned to be extra cautious as the threat of small avalanches still looms.

The Trans-Canada stretch reopened yesterday after extreme resulted in an overnight closure.

Highways in the mountain parks remain in fair to poor condition with sections of slushy and compact snow, authorities say.

Motorists are still advised to travel with extreme caution, obey flagging crew and road signs, and check road reports prior to departure.
