TransCore Canadian freight index up 22%

TORONTO — TransCore’s Canadian Freight showed a 73-percent year-over-year improvement in spot market freight availability.

The May 2010 index rose by 22 points over the previous month.

Combined cross-border postings have increased 82 percent year over year. And truck postings have decreased by 14 percent for the same period, indicating a reduction in capacity to meet demand.

The company reports 12 million loads and trucks per year on Loadlink, a Canadian logistics freight matching database and network.

As a result of this high volume, TransCore’s Canadian Freight Index is representative of the ups and downs in spot market freight movement as well as provides a historical account of the domestic and cross border spot market freight movement.
