TransCore links up with Canadian load-matching service
Mississagua, Ont.-based Link Logistics says its database of 30,000 daily loads and trucks will jump to about 130,000 after the Canadian company was acquired by a U.S.-based transportation services company-creating what the companies call the largest single freight exchange network in North America.
TransCore of Portland, Ore. says it will fold Link Logistics to work side-by-side with TransCore’s recently acquired DAT Services, which currently processes more than 80,000 Internet trading sessions a day.
TransCore will integrate Link Logistics into its portfolio of supply chain management services, positioning the combined Link and DAT Services Internet freight exchange capabilities alongside their wireless asset tracking technology and fleet management services. The deal coincides with the culmination of a three-year arrangement in which DAT Services and Link Logistics collaborated to provide cross-border freight information when they were independently owned companies.
Rick Court, Link Logistics’ president, will report to Marc Cameron, TransCore’s Commercial Services Group chief operating officer. Link Logistics’ staff will now become TransCore employees and remain based in Ontario.
