TransCore’s Canadian freight index sets record
TORONTO – TransCore’s Canadian Freight Index in March was up 35 percent from the previous year and 36 percent from the prior month, setting a new record.
For the first quarter 2011, volume was up 34 percent compared to the first quarter of 2001, and saw a 250-percent increase from March 2009.
While load volume reached an all-time high, equipment available postings remained at the same low levels recorded for the prior few months.
From a historical perspective, available posted equipment was down 24 percent from the lofty capacity levels of March 2009.
