TransForce acquires Quebec carrier
MONTREAL, (Feb. 16, 2004) — TransForce has announced it will acquire all outstanding shares of truckload, cross-border carriers Transport S.A.S. of Drummondville, Que. and Location S.A.S. Inc.
The S.A.S. group had revenues of more than $11 million in its most recent fiscal year.
The purchase comes just one month after TransForce — Canada’s largest for-hire trucking company — bought Transport George Lacaille Ltd.
Last summer TransForce completed a blockbuster deal by acquiring Canadian Freightways at auction for $69.6 million and agreed to take on $15 million in debt. CF, sold as part of the liquidation of its bankrupt parent, Consolidated Freightways, gave TransForce a more solid presence in Western Canada’s LTL market, company President Alain Bédard said at the time.
