TransForce agrees to buy Transport Besner

MONTREAL (Sept. 8, 2002) — TransForce, the parent of Cabano Kingsway and TST Solutions, said it has agreed to buy Transport Besner and its trucking subsidiaries. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Based in St. Nicolas, Que., Transport Besner specializes in domestic and transborder truckload activities in eastern Canada and the United States. Combined, the Besner group had annual revenues of approximately $43 million in 2001.

TransForce said Michel Besner will remain as president of the group of companies, and the management team will stay intact.

“The acquisition of the Besner group of companies is designed to advance our strategic growth plan,” Alain Bédard, president and CEO of TransForce, said in a statement. “Our core mission is to offer a full range of transportation and logistics services throughout North America, concentrating on markets where we have a competitive advantage. The domestic and transborder truckload business represents a key market for us, and the acquisition of the Besner group of companies is intended to strengthen our presence in this sector of activity.”
