TransForce shopping spree started early

MONTREAL — Just before embarking on a series of major fleet acquisitions this last week, TransForce was warming up with the purchase of a 100-truck fleet in Saint-Félix de Kingsey, Que.

In early September, TransForce bought Durocher Transit Inc, a specialized truckload fleet and warehousing services firm, Today’s Trucking sister publication Transport Routier has learned.

The company — which specializes in Quebec-U.S. transportation, and offers services in Ontario and Maritimes — operates a fleet of 100 trucks, mostly open trailers, 50,000 square-ft of warehousing space, and over a million square-ft of yard space to facilitate cargo transit.

Steve Lamontagne will remain general manager of Durocher Transit Inc., which was founded in 1982 by Jacques Morin.

Over the last week TransForce has acquired two other Quebec fleets: Golden Eagle Express Inc. headquartered in Bois-des-Filion, and Group 2 B Inc., based primarily in Quebec’s Abitibi-Temiscamingue region. Most recently it bought Rebel Transport, an oil and gas services carrier in Edmonton.
