Transportal Network inks first Canadian member

ATLANTA (Sept. 14, 2000) — Transportal Network, a fleet-management and buying group for truckload carriers, has its first Canadian member.

Big Freight Systems Inc. of Steinbach, Man., joined the Atlanta-based consortium on Sept. 7. Transportal Network represents 33 companies that account for nearly $2.5-billion US in revenue, 20,000 tractors, and 40,000 trailers.

The group uses volume purchasing power to pass on savings to members buying trucks, trailers, tires, oil, telecommunications services, and a wide range of office and service products. Transportal’s Web site features Internet-based software designed to help companies maximize trailer capacity, reduce empty miles, reduce fuel costs, and improve driver and customer satisfaction.
