TransX driver honored by company

WINNIPEG — The TransX Group is honoring one of its best wheelmen after 30 years of service.

Meet Joe Nayanokee, a status Ojibway native, who is the company’s most senior driver.

He currently lives in Port Hope, Ont. and work as a company driver running a 2005 Volvo, or as Joe calls it, “a Swedish Peterbilt.”

“What I like about TransX is that if you do your job well, they leave you alone. Doing your job well means completing your runs on time and handing in your paperwork as required,” he says. “This company has changed a lot since 1976. When I started with the company the fleet was made up of 10 owner operators. A few years later they added 10 highway units and then 10 city trucks. I ran open board and I guess because of all the years I’ve put in, the company has given me two excellent trips per month running LTL from Mississauga to Vancouver.”

Winnipeg-based TransX has grown to become one of the leading over-the-road and intermodal fleets in Canada. It is also the largest transportation company for fresh and frozen foods.

TransX employees receive years of service awards at the 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25-year level of driving service.

At a safety banquet recently, President Louis Tolaini gave Joe the option of any type of company truck to replace his existing tractor.

Joe chose an ’07 Pete.
