Truckers? Meet Wajax. Wajax, meet truckers
TORONTO – – Wajax Power Systems. Wajax Power Systems. Wajax Power systems. Commit it to memory.
That’s exactly what the powers-that-be at Wajax (pronounced Way-Jacks) want you to do, as they rebrand their business and bring its new face to the transportation industry across Canada.
At a special event prior to a board meeting in Toronto this week, Wajax President and CEO Neil Manning launched the rebranding.
In May, the company purchased, for almost $22 million, the Toronto-based Harper Power Products, a company that has long been associated with Detroit Diesel, MTU Mercedes Benz, Allison Transmissions and other brands.
With the purchase, Harper joined Waterous Power systems and DDace Power Systems to comprise the three arms of the new Wajax Power Systems division, headed up by Wajax Sr. Vice President Tim Zawislak.
The other two divisions are Wajax Equipment and Wajax Industrial Components.
The May buyout of Harper did not include Harper’s Thomas Built bus division or the Harper Truck Centres in Toronto.
Wajax traces its roots to 1858 in Montreal, where a man named B.J. Coghlin opened a blacksmith shop. Head office is now in Mississauga and the company is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange as WJX.
