TST donates trailer to training

SIMCOE, Ont. — TST Truckload Express has donated a 53 foot trailer to KRTS Transportation Specialists Inc. and Fanshawe College, Simcoe Campus.

The trailer is used by Kim Richardson’s group of training professionals, which promotes a number of industry stakeholders including the Ontario Trucking Association, the Professional Truck Driver Institute, the Power To Drive Program, as well as Fanshawe College.

Tom Philips, vice-president and manager of operations at TST Truckload says, “We have experienced the value of investing in entry level Professional Drivers. We have successfully hired, placed and retained 27 new operators in The Power To Drive program.”

The Power To Drive program is a partnership between Arrow Truck Sales, KRTS Transportation Specialists Inc. and TST Truckload, which was honoured with the 2005 Industries Program of the Year Award during National Transportation Week.

“The donation of the equipment demonstrates the unconventional thinking of the group,” says Kim Richardson, president of KRTS. “Fanshawe wins as we’re advertising the College and its services in the Community. TST Truckload wins because they advertise The Power to Drive Program. KRTS wins because we have great partners, as well as being able to offer our clients training on late model, state of the art equipment.”
