TST Expedited dispatch system garners tech award

SAINT-LAURENT, Que. (June 26, 2000) — TST Expedited Services received an ITX Information Technology Excellence Award for its TSTracs dispatch software and SmarTrax, a Web-based service.

The TSTracs system locates and communicates with trucks on the road and the SmarTrax system enables customers to track their freight throughout the delivery process. The award is presented to companies that have earned distinction in the development of world-class information technology solutions.

TSTracs was developed three years ago by vice-president of information technology Stuart Sutton, who last month received a National Transportation Week award for the system. It integrates satellite messaging, geographical mapping, Internet, EDI and up-to-the-minute customized reports. In seconds, customers can access position updates and track trucks by viewing them right down to street level.

Sutton said the company plans to make TSTracs commercially available to smaller fleets as a Web-based application.

Specializing in emergency delivery services on the North American market, Windsor, Ont.-based TST Expedited Services has a fleet of 250 owner-operator vehicles.
