UPS Logistics to buy Livingston subsidiaries
ATLANTA (Aug. 30, 2000) — UPS Logistics Group, the logistics division of United Parcel Service of America, said it plans to buy two subsidiaries of Toronto-based Livingston Group Inc., for an undisclosed sum.
The divisions are Livingston Inc. of Oakville, Ont., and Livingston Healthcare Services Inc. of Newark, Del.
Livingston Inc. operates 22 distribution centres in Canada and specializes in supply-chain management in the high-tech, consumer products, and healthcare sectors. Livingston Healthcare has six distribution centres in the U.S. and specializes in logistics for healthcare, biotechnology, and medical device customers.
Completion of the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals and the satisfaction of customary terms and conditions, is expected in October.
In a separate transaction, Livingston Inc. will sell four of its existing Canadian distribution facilities and operations to Seattle-based Lynden International Logistics Co.
