U.S., Canada, Mexico surface trade for July up 18.1 percent YoY
WASHINGTON — Trade using surface transportation between Canada, the U.S., and Mexico was up 18.1 percent in July 2011 than in July 2010, according the to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).
The value of U.S. surface transportation trade with Canada and Mexico rose 40.4 percent since July 2009, but has only seen a 1 percent increase from the July 2008 level.
When compared with July 2001, surface transportation trade increased 77.1 percent for the same month, with imports up 60.7 percent and exports up 100.8 percent since July 2001.
U.S. trade value with Canada and Mexico was primarily moved by land transportation for July, coming in at 85.2 percent with 10.8 percent moved by vessel, and 4.1 percent moved by air.
The value of U.S. transportation trade with Canada and Mexico dropped 6.7 percent in July 2011 from June 2011.
