U.S. Customs seeks comments on crossborder policies for pilot cars
WASHINGTON (Feb. 15, 2002) — The U.S. Customs Service is seeking comments on a proposal that would streamline border crossings for pilot cars entering the United States.
The proposed policy change, outlined in the Jan. 30 edition of the agency’s Customs Bulletin, would give customs officers the authority to allow pilot cars, which typically accompany vehicles hauling overdimensional or hazardous loads, into the country without formal documentation.
Written comments on the proposal must be received on or before March 1. Send them to U.S. Customs Service, Office of Regulations and Rulings, Attention: Entry Procedures and Carriers Branch, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. 20229.
For more information, contact Glen Vereb of the U.S. Customs Entry Procedures and Carrier Branch, Office of Regulations and Rulings, at 202/927-2320.
