U.S. firm buys operator of Ontario’s Drive Clean emissions testing program
PASADENA, Calif. (Oct. 5, 1999) Ð A U.S. engineering and management firm announced its intent to acquire Protect Air Inc., the privately held Markham, Ont., corporation that manages Ontario’s Drive Clean emissions testing program.
Parsons Corp. of Padadena, Calif., oversees the design, operation, and maintenance of emissions inspection programs in the United States. Parsons and Protect Air jointly manage emissions inspection facilities in New Jersey.
“The addition of Protect Air will expand our technical and systems integration capabilities to better serve our global vehicle emissions customers and broaden our overall corporate technology base to solve our customers’ evolving technological problems,” said Jim McNulty, chairman and chief executive officer of Parsons.
This acquisition significantly enhances and complements Parsons’ current capability to provide program management, construction management, and operation and maintenance services for vehicle inspection and compliance programs for the reduction of smog-related emissions, he said.
