Use the summer to make political hay, OTA tells truckers
TORONTO (July 8, 1999) – The Ontario Trucking Association, the largest trucking industry group in Canada, urged truckers to meet with government officials in order to put trucking issues on the front burner in Queen’s Park this fall.
“With the Ontario election over, a new cabinet sworn in, and a new session of the legislature scheduled to resume in September, the summer provides a great opportunity to let your MPP know how important your business and the trucking industry overall is to the Ontario economy,” the association said, issuing a “call to action” in its most recent newsletter.
MPPs typically use the legislature’s summer hiatus to meet with constituents. The OTA has offered to help truckers make contact with their MPP.
“MPPs need to know that the trucking industry has a presence and employs people in their riding,” the association said. “They can only attempt to do their job well if they hear from you and are made aware of your concerns.”
