Valvoline Zerex Extreme: HD Antifreeze/Coolant Family

Valvoline’s new Zerex Extreme antifreeze/coolant lineup includes four heavy-duty products: the fully formulated “Extended Life” (in concentrate and ready-to-use form), plus the pre-charged “Heavy Duty” product (available as a concentrate or ready-to-use). All are based on an ethylene-glycol and de-ionized water formulation (except the concentrated products). De-ionized water is used because it’s free of calcium and magnesium, which promote scaling and deposits.

The Extended Life antifreeze/coolant uses organic-acid technology and corrosion inhibitors to protect against liner pitting and hard-water scale deposits for up to three years/6000 hours or 300,000 miles/480,000 kilometres on initial fill. A Zerex Extreme extender can double that mileage. The pre-charged formula uses a patented low-silicate chemistry and will protect diesels for up to 150,000 miles/240,000 kilometres, twice that with an extender.
