Viking expands Reno terminal

SAN JOSE, Calif. (April 11, 2001) — Viking Freight Inc., a less-than-truckload division of FedEx Corp., has expanded its terminal in Reno, Nev., by 30 doors, bringing the new total to 74.

Viking handles about 1.2 million pounds of freight per day at its Reno service centre for customers including Amazon.com, Arrow Electronics, and retailer J.C. Penney.

Viking said Reno is a strategic place for shippers to locate their distribution centers for geographic and business reasons. From Reno, the carrier can deliver to all major West Coast markets in one to two days.

Viking and its sister operating company, American Freightways comprise FedEx Freight, a $1.9 billion US regional freight service and a member of the FedEx family of companies.
