Vitran’s Gaetz Resigns, Deluce Appointed Interim CEO

TORONTO — Rick Gaetz has resigned from the position of president and CEO of Vitran, one of Canada’s largest truck fleets.

He will be temporarily replaced by longtime board member Bill Deluce, Vitran’s chairman, Richard McGraw, said in a statement.

Deluce has been a member of Vitran’s board of directors since 2004, and “will work closely” with the company’s management team to oversee ongoing operations and efforts to improve its financial results, the statement said.

Vitran said they will immediately begin a search for a new CEO.

Vitran will report its fourth-quarter and 2012 earnings on April 25.

In 2004, Financial Post named Gaetz the number-one CEO in Canada. The company was the third largest for-hire carrier on the Today’s Trucking Top 100 Carriers of 2013 list.
