Volvo issues ‘environmental product declaration’ for Euro-models

GOTEBORG, Sweden (Sept. 5, 2001) — Volvo Trucks will offer an “environmental product declaration” for its Volvo FH and Volvo FM heavy truck models describing the vehicles’ environmental impact from the production of raw materials to its eventual recycling.

Volvo said the environmental product declaration “is a natural step in Volvo’s strategy of presenting the environmental impact of all its operations in an open, factual manner. It has been developed to assist customers, transport purchasers, and the authorities in their increasingly detailed discussions relating to the environmental impact of transport.”

Customers can calculate this environmental impact, based on their specific operations via the Volvo Trucks web site. An online calculator factors the environmental impact of the entire product life cycle.
