Volvo, Mack Canada to live under same roof
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (Sept. 6, 2002) — The Canadian operations of Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks will be coming together under one roof on Sept. 20, Today’s Trucking has learned.
Volvo Trucks has owned Mack since it acquired the company from Renault V.I. in 2000.
Brent Weary, Canadian vice-president of sales and marketing for Volvo Trucks, said the two companies will be leaving their existing offices and integrating the non-branding functions of their Canadian operations at a brand new custom-built facility in Mississauga, Ont. The accounting, administrative, and parts and service functions of both companies will be integrated into a single department, while each sales and marketing force will keep separate departments in the same building.
“Our goal here is to protect the two brands, their images, and what they represent, while getting as much efficiency as we can on an administration and parts and service basis,” he said, adding that the companies have already integrated parts warehousing at a facility on Mavis Rd. in Mississauga.
